Book Week Parade 2015

Book Week Parade

by Callum

Today was our annual Book Parade celebrating books. We all had fun dressing up and buying books from the Book fair. Our Book Parade was full of costumes from books which were all amazing! We had Mr. Gray as the Mad Hatter, Mrs. Pope as the purple crayon, Mrs. Zantides as a orange crayon, Mrs. Foola as a yellow crayon and so much more. Most of the kids dressed up but only two won from each class.

The winners costumes were amazing. The winners in 6T were Nikita as Athena( A Greek God) and Noah as a Jedi knight. In 5S the winners were Ben as Mr. Bump and Grace as a Book.       We had all sorts of costumes from Olaf, Doctor Who, Andy Roid, Tony stark, Katniss Everdeen, Minions  and so much more. Amelia and Brock prayed and Nikita and Jack did a amazing poem about books.

We all had a amazing day!

Book Parade and Fair

This term celebrates the Australian Book Council's Book Week. The theme is "Books Light Up Our world". The aim of Book week is to promote not only a love of reading, but to celebrate and show the tremendous talent of Australian writers and illustrators.

Mount Annan Christian College will be celebrating Book Week with a Book Parade and Fair. This will be held in the Primary School on Friday, 11th September 2015. Please see the note below for further details:

Each child (and their teacher!) are encouraged to choose a character of a book and to dress up in costume. Students need to bring their costume to school and will get changed during recess in preparation for the parade. There will be prizes for the best costumes. Parents are invited to come and watch the parade, then have lunch with their children afterwards.
Each class will then focus on a shortlisted book to complete some activities that help to understand and enjoy the books. Parents are welcome to participate too!

What is your favourite book for Book Week? What character will you dress up as?
