Anzac Day Parade
It was a beautiful morning for the Camden Anzac Day Parade, with clear skies after such a wet week. Mount Annan Christian College was very well represented from all parts of the school. It was really wonderful to see everyone looking very smart in their uniforms.
The Anzac Day service was a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of Anzac Day, with many of the speeches and hymns reminding us of the sacrifices and hardships endured that many of the young soldiers that went off to war made on our behalf. A wreath was laid by our captains Sara-Jayne and Connor on behalf of MACC as part of the commemorations.
Thank you to Mrs Gray for organising everyone, as well as a big thank you to all of our parents for making such a fantastic turnout possible.

It's all Illusion!
Optical Illusions are a part of Art that are fascinating as well as entertaining. We will be studying how illusion plays a part of Art. There is a connection with Mathematics and Science, because of the way these images trick our eyes and alter our perception of the world around us.
We watched the following video, which introduced the topic. It shows how our mind makes up for what our eyes see. It is about what we perceive to be reality but is in fact an illusion.

The next part of the lesson was to explore the many different types of illusions that are around, finding many different and creative optical illusions.
We then watched another video by Brusspup on Youtube who created a little T-rex that when filmed looks like it is turning its head... so we then made our own,
What do you know about Optical illusions? Do you have a favourite optical illusion that you would like to share?

6T's Assembly Item
Our Assembly item was a mix of prerecorded and live action as we reflected back on all the great learning and events from Term One. Thanks guys for being an amazing class!
What did you enjoy the most about Term one?
Setting a Goal...
One of the things that we are focusing on this term is to learn how to set a goal that is achievable, then setting out to complete it. If we think that life is like a game, what do we need to do to get the ball into the goal? Sometimes we need to focus on practising skills, sometimes we have to find effective ways to get around the opposition, sometimes we have to persevere even when we don't feel well. We have to remain committed to achieving that goal.
Our students were asked to write down two goals that they would like to achieve this term. We discussed that they needed to be specific and achievable. They then had to come up with a game plan. They discussed with each other what it would take to achieve their goal. We will revisit our goals in four weeks and see whether or not we have made steps in achieving our goals.
This is part of a classroom focus this term, to identify what our learning intentions are and then as we progress through a lesson, identify if we are understanding the instructions and what is being taught. On one of the whiteboards in our classroom is the following chart:
We explain what the outcome of the lesson is going to be. Students will then be asked how much they understand. There will be opportunity to either move on or to revisit the lesson depending on the amount of understanding.

Identifying what we know or don't know is one of the first steps to achieving our goals. They become a starting point for helping us to understand where can improve. Asking others and finding strategies helps to then move forward to achieving our goals.
What is a goal that you want to achieve this term? How do you think you will achieve it?

Welcome Back to Term 2
It is always great to start a new term fresh after the holidays. I hope that everyone has had a safe holiday and ready to get into some interesting and exciting learning for this term.
Term 2 sees the start of some cooler weather, which means digging out the winter uniforms! A uniform for school, indeed for any organisation, shows where we belong. It actually helps define the identity of who we are as a school community. Taking care of the way of our appearance shows that we respect who we are and that we care about a place, in which we belong. Please refer to the following poster about the uniform. These a reminders only but will be reinforced through the term. It is appreciated that when there is an issue with a uniform that a note in your diary from parents about it.
There is also a copy of the School Uniform Policy below, which gives greater detail about uniforms. If there any more inquiries about uniforms, please come and chat to myself or Mr Sales about it. We will endeavour to answer them or find out!

What a Way to end the Term!
There is always a lot of excitement when a term ends, but none more so than today when we ended Term 1 with both Easter Hat Parade and Missions Day.
Stage 3 helped the younger students in preparing and participating in the Easter Hat Parade. Jack and Nikita, our prefects had prepared an fantastic message about Easter, highlighting the reason the reason that we celebrate Easter is that Jesus came to save us from our sin.
Missions Day continues some of this theme because Jesus came to serve. He demonstrated to us that we need to lay down our lives for one another. This is an important aspect of Missions Day.
This is a day that we set aside school work to raise money for other students who live elsewhere, whose needs are greater than our own. There is always a great sense of community and school spirit, as we go about all the different activities.
Thank you to all of our wonderful students who helped out today!
Pen pal Gifts have arrived!
It was a little like Christmas this morning when year 6 opened their gifts from their pen pals. Starting the year making new friends has been very positive. It meant that we created personal blogs to showcase work. Year 6 will continue to stay in contact with their pen pals through the year.
What enjoy most about the pen pal exchange?
